More and more, statistics are showing that 'graceful aging' is trending on Google. More than preventing aging, men and women are throwing out resistance and embracing the benefits of their advancing years.
You’ve raised your children. You’ve gotten through the rough patches of relationships over time. You’ve encountered all sorts of life challenges (which isn’t to say those won’t continue to occur), but now you’re at a place in life where your years signify accomplishment, savvy, wisdom and resilience.
Television is rife with commercials for prescription medications, hospitals, doctors, therapeutic devices, and emergency alert necklaces. If you’re not vigilant you can take on all sorts of programming, messages and energy these days that you really don’t want in your life. Don't play this game. Don't buy in!
There's a fact of life we must not forget and that is whatever we focus on, we’ll have more of. Focus on those commercials and social consciousness messages everywhere you look and you’ll soon be standing in line for too much of what they’re offering!
Accumulating years is like gathering points or increments of accomplishment. That’s how we can look at ‘aging.’ And that’s the only time we’re going to say that word in this article!
After gathering so many prestigious increments of achievement in your life, you should be very proud, very pleased and quite contented. Allow this trio of emotion (proud, pleased, contented) to radiate from your beautiful being.
Walk with it, speak from it, live it, and build on it for a gorgeous life.
Here are several arenas where wise men and women can place focus for even greater heights of enjoyment of life and enhanced and timeless outer and inner beauty!
Correct your posture if it needs it. Stand tall and straight. There’s nothing more beautiful than upright posture. The way to great posture is twofold.
- You must have a strong core to stand erect. Strengthen your abdominal muscles with the kinds of exercises you’ll most enjoy. It doesn’t have to be hundreds of crunches several times a week. Just a few sets of 20 reps done consistently is all it takes.
- How we feel about ourselves reflects in our posture. If our physiology is bent, hunched and weak looking, we must take a look at that and resolve to find joy in our lives and in ourselves. We must learn to love ourselves and when we do, we’ll notice our posture straighten, nice and tall. (Learning to love ourselves will be the topic of another blog post soon!)
Walk with purpose. Focus on taking nice, bold strides as you walk, feet planted firmly on the ground. If your steps are small or approaching tiny, this may be a reflection of limiting, restrictive, recoiling inner thinking. Change your thinking by remembering you’ve already accomplished so much in life and there’s still so much more to do! By fortifying your stride on the exterior, confidence will grow on the interior!
Enhance what you have and own it. If you have a few wrinkles or lines, embrace them. Look into the mirror and see the enormous character you've built. Wear the clothing that suits your personality. Jazz it up with your favorite accessories. Combine with great posture and a confident stride, and baby, you own it and it’s so so so attractive! If you think you have problems or issues others will think so too. If you come across owning all you are and have, others will respond to you positively.
Don’t be afraid to be who you are. Follow your inner guidance. Open yourself to receive pointers from your celestial guides and inner self and then act on the guidance you receive. Watch your life continue to unfold in spectacular unexpected ways!
Nourish yourself four ways.
- Take in wise and wholesome physical nourishment. Try to buy organic, integrity foods as much as possible and refrain from consuming animal products. Your grocery bill may seem a little higher but you’ll save big time on medical expenses in the long run.
- Nourish yourself with uplifting books, passages and programs.
- Emotional nourishment means creating downtime a for yourself in all the ways you feel. Maybe it’s massage or other kinds of bodywork. Maybe it’s a walk in a nature preserve.
- Spiritual nourishment is uplifting and energizing. It satisfies the souls and radiates outward even in your physical appearance and the way you feel. This kind of sustenance might be meditation, yoga, or going to church. Do what feels exciting and right for you.
Trust yourself. You’re very wise! By accumulating the increments of life experience you are extremely wise. Don’t second guess yourself. Follow your inner wisdom and be pleasantly surprised. Doing so will reflect in the way you present yourself to others and to yourself.
Get high on laughter. Yes, you can get literally high on laughter. And it’s a natural high that the brain knows how to balance and to use for your best advantage unlike the high some people derive from drugs. Laughter is healing and rejuvenating. Have fun and seek enjoyment. Often, it’s the little things that create fertile ground for the most happiness and contentment in our lives and when we’re happy, we feel alive, young and beautiful. Take note of the dragonfly that just flew past your line of vision. Pack a lovely picnic and invite a friend. Take in the fragrance of a rose.
When signing up, creating online profiles or completing surveys, choose the age bracket you’ll enjoy most. You don’t have to box yourself in to receive depressing, fear-inducing or so called "age appropriate" information. Surround yourself with light and bright!
Walk. Walk. Walk. Do so as much as you can. Build your endurance. It will reflect in your overall health and vitality and especially the vitality of your cardiovascular system.
Keep the chaos out. Stay organized and neat and clean. Make your life a life of zen. You don’t have to learn feng shui. Just feel out what feels good to you when arranging your surroundings. Allow positive energies to flow easily through your home environment and in the energetic envelope surrounding your body known as the aura. These energies will sustain you!
You probably don’t need to wear so much make-up! Many advise to wear more makeup as women become more mature. We disagree. Some make-up can get heavy and actually emphasize lines and wrinkles especially if we're not make-up artists. Deep red lipstick emphasizes thinning lips. Lighten up the application of make-up and, in some cases, even the colors.
Send out the vibes. Think it and it is so. Think confidence, radiance, beauty, attractiveness, wisdom and love and everyone around you will be irresistibly drawn to you. Your relationships will grow and nourish you. With this nourishment, you will have a super strong immune system and the sky will be the limit for you!
